Play is important. As an elementary teacher, I know this is true for children. But adults need a mental, and physical, break as much as kids do! I play often, though finding balance between work and play will always be a challenge.
I craft, read, write, bake, exercise, explore museums and historical sites, and watch movies. I consider these all examples of adult play activities. They are not work, and not tasks that must be completed. Finding time to complete just one of these a day has really helped me keep joy in my life, and I encourage everyone to do just that. Spend time each day doing something fun; it doesn’t matter what it is. It’s different for everyone, and while I find great joy in teaching, it’s the rest of life that keeps us truly happy.
