since my last post. Or just over a week. Returning to work after two weeks off was both joyous and exhausting! I loved seeing my students and jumping right into semester two. We have no time to lose; before we know it, it will be June and our journey together will be over. That ending will be celebrated, but sad as well. Saying “goodbye” year after year, then starting over again a few months later, is a strange cycle. Very deja vu-ish, like a time warp where we keep reliving the past. Very similar to one of my favorite “Star Trek: The Next Generation” episodes. With my affinity for time travel and time warps, it made sense I would try my hand at writing such a tale…

I have to admit, Winter Break was filled with fun, family, and relaxation. Even the day I worked on report cards, there was music and frivolity at some point in the day. What didn’t get done was any writing about the Bear Flag Revolt. Oh, that leads me to a related tangent… Our 4th grade TCM published social studies book states that the Bear Flag Revolt took place at Sutter’s Fort. I had my students write the correct information on a post it note, and stick it on the page for future fourth graders. I see a strongly worded email to TCM in my future… Ugh… So embarrassing for them!

But I digress. I am only a few chapters away from finishing my tale. I recently received my own strongly worded email from the Contra Costa County library, reminding me my General Vallejo biography was overdue. Whoops! With my report cards in the rear-view, it’s time for a different type of writing. And I want to get on Canva and start designing my book cover. And I need to update this website, after watching a few tutorials (as it isn’t really intuitive). I chose a quick link for this blog, and have no idea where it will end up. It’s always an adventure!

So I leave you with “Happy New Year!” wishes, and hope my own wishes to finish (the biography, at least) are realized sooner than later.
