Happy Monday! It’s a long weekend, so of course there’s so much time to get things done! Bob and I enjoyed the cabin for a few days. An evening with friends and a lunch date were just what we needed. AND I managed to back a fabulous loaf of bread at a high-ish altitude! Such a win! We’re also looking forward to seeing Ryan for dinner tonight.

There’s a lot on my to do list, and I know I must pace myself. I am still getting used to this new home for my blog, so using the quick blog button seems to be working out for the best right now. Not that it’s what the button is called. Something like that… Anyway, I have a tutorial I want to go through to maximize this space and achieve my goals. Though I need to set some goals, first. Yep, the list keeps growing.
I think with a bit of time, I can really get this website looking great. I may keep playing with the formatting and design, so please bear with me. My goal is for this to be the place my students, past, present and future, can follow my writing journey, and see it’s not as easy as teachers might make it look! I teach writing every day, and work hard to keep my students engaged and growing their skills. Being a writer myself, I have a unique perspective, and want to embrace that.
Next I’d like to offer help to budding writers, in the form of practice and perhaps feedback. After that I’d like to attract other teachers. With over thirty years of elementary teaching experience (and five teaching preschool, but who’s counting…), I have a lot to offer new and veteran teachers. I strive to learn something new as often as I can; I look for teaching ideas, projects, or just a different perspective to meet the varying needs of 31 fourth and fifth graders.
So the evolution of my site begins, along with tackling The Bear Flag Revolt. It’s coming along quite well, and the library book must be returned this week. Fingers crossed! This past week I took so many notes, and learned so much more about the entire month in California’s history. Today I began serious revisions of my manuscript, even though I haven’t finished the book. I think retracing my steps, and improving the story, will help me figure out the best way to end it. Also on the lists are a better title and designing the cover.
The only deadline is self-imposed, and I want this book to be amazing. So I will put in the extra time and effort to go back to the beginning, and take it from there.
Until next time…
