Focus! Focus! Focus! And get back to book 6! (No title yet)
Easier said than done. Monday I had to take my car in for servicing, so I packed up my laptop, notebook, and an eagerness to get started on my new book. I knew I would be held captive by the wait, so the timing was perfect!
And you know what? I started book 6 that very morning. I got almost one chapter in, and then my laptop died. Note to self: check battery % when writing out in the wilderness. Or at least when visiting Hops and Beans, a cute coffee shop in Fremont. Because unlike the airport or Starbucks, the electrical outlets were not easy to access… So sad.
Yesterday I had to pick my car up when it was actually ready. I then did yoga with Alyssa, wandered around Michael’s for crafting inspiration, and finally got to the weekly grocery shopping. And then the rest of the day is a blur. Food prep for the week and some light reading. I can only shake my head at how the day got away from me. I can’t recall how the time was spent, except for heating dinner and hot tubbing my potentially sore muscles…
And now I sit once again, a few hours after I first sat down at my desk, ready to get back to it. I have readers ready, believe it or not. My sis, Traci, already took a stab at the doc, so I know I have some revisions to make. Sandi loved it and can’t wait for more! I have two students also ready to help, which is pretty awesome. Thanks, Tashvi and Collin!
So what got done today? I read a little at breakfast, but couldn’t sit still, for some reason. I brought my iced tea into the office… and now my office is spotless! The shredding is ready to be recycled, and my bookshelf is much tidier. So is the office closet. The Safety Patrol vests for work are all washed and hanging in the sunshine to dry; I plan to drop them back at work tomorrow, just to get them out of my office. I have a pile of recycling and donations to remove from the office, and then I guess I am done tidying up.
But then decided to get back to work on what I wanted to do today. So here I am, off task once again, writing this blog. But now I won’t have to think about it. I have had so many blog ideas in the past few weeks, but never settled down to write any of it down. BUT while tidying up I did find my misplaced notebook for ideas and whatnot. With that more easily at hand, I can jot down my my ideas as they arrive, and perhaps blog a bit more often. We shall see…
It’s been a great summer so far, though. I got to spend a few days with my BFF, Sandi, who flew in from Switzerland for a week. I am so grateful she and Mark had time to stay with us! We made tortillas and relaxed, and journeyed to SF on our second day. Then I had to say Uf Wiederluege, or goodbye, to them once again.
Then I threw myself back into summer. I walked to coffee with Rebecca and Stacey, and plan to do that more, when we are all free. I have baked, crafted, spent time with my more local friends (shout out to Mary Jane, Kathy and Nadine for an amazing evening), and have gotten a lot of reading done.
One item on the Task List is pick up my gold rush book from the library; I got the notification this morning that it’s waiting for me. So more serious reading will be coming soon, I hope! Along with getting together with friends, including a few more trips to the cabin, and a family vacation. One thing no longer on my list is our mandatory Keenan trainings for teachers! The first three assigned are now in the rear view, but I know there are a few more coming my way…
I can’t complain. But I can get focused, so that is what I shall do now…
Until next time!
